I never thought I would get to announce something like this, but… ET CETERA IS A BESTSELLER!!
Another debut author DM’ed me, “Congratulations on USA Today!” My immediate thought was, “She must have meant this for someone else…” There is no way that I’m on any bestseller list.
But lo and behold, a screenshot proved that I was, in fact, on the USA Today bestseller list.
Shockingly enough, I was above the ever-selling Colleen Hoover and the book I cannot escape, The Body Keeps the Score.
I checked my website stats to see if there were more visitors than average—nope. I even checked my bank account to make sure I hadn’t become a millionaire overnight—no such luck.
As far as I know, nothing has materially changed in my life. No one has recognized me on the subway and asked for a selfie. I wasn’t really expecting that, but I imagined all bestselling authors to have a level of fame that I have not attained…
But in all seriousness, no words can capture how grateful I am for all your support in publishing my first book with Marta Bertello. It’s humbling to think that any of you bought our little book about Latin, let alone enough of you to be on a bestseller list.
